I've been saving to buy a home for a few years i'm in my mid 20's and this whole subprime mess hasn't really affected me I feel bad for home owners who bought homes they couldn't afford but how many of them would go out and buy a Ferrari given the chance you know you can't afford it even if given the chance with a loan so why go buy some huge house that's to much? My cousin bought a home a few years ago a single story ranch we rented it and are finishing the basement to rent out as well, he can afford it and it will pay for itself once the basement is finished. I'm going to look for the same something small that has rental potential and that I can afford. I have 0 balance transfers on my cards a good interest rate on my savings at 4% and no fees for checking both personal and business. So i'm saving every where I can and making the most with what I have.
